Apple's new 3D Touch technology is now available on the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. The technology which is part of the display, lets users press on the screen to reveal secondary actions. The harder you press the more things you can do.

With the technology there are two new ways of interacting:

The first is Quick Actions. These let you access a secondary menu from the home screen icon. For things like the camera app that might be taking you straight to the selfie option within the app, or for the Phone app icon your three favourite people.

The second way of interacting Apple calls Peek and Pop. This option lets you "peek" into parts of the app or other apps from within the app. An example might be previewing your photos from the camera app or looking into your Calendar app from the Mail app without having to open the Calendar app to see if you are busy or not.

Rather than just keep the new interactions to itself, Apple has allowed third party developers to use the new features to enhance their own apps.

Here are the best ones we've found in the App Store so far. If you see any good examples of 3D Touch, let us know in the comments below.

Endless Alphabet

The developers of Endless Alphabet (iTunes) have used 3D Touch to add an extra level of interaction to the children's app. Depending on how hard you press on the letters or words will change the way they respond. Cute.

Pinterest

3D Touch in the Pinterest app (iTunes) lets you firmly press to open Pins you are interested in.

AG Drive

Rather than Quick Actions or Peek and Pop, the developers behind AG Drive (iTunes) have used 3D Touch to allow users to press harder to accelerate. Just make sure you don't put your thumbs through the screen in the hope to go faster.

Instagram

3D Touch works here on Instagram (iTunes) with Quick Actions on the home screen. In app and you can use Peek and Pop to preview photos in your timeline without having to open them fully.

Hipstamatic

Fairly simple 3D Touch implementation here from Hipstamatic (iTunes) with home screen shortcuts and Peek and Pop previews in the app.

Dropbox

From the home screen the Dropbox (iTunes) app lets you view your most recently actioned file or folder, offline files, upload photos and videos, as well as search your dropbox. Inside the app you get to Peek and Pop to get previews of folders or files.

Skyguide

Pressing on the Shazam (iTunes) icon on the home screen with the iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus lets you installed shazam what you are listening to without having to open the app and then press to listen.

City Mapper 3D Touch

This is what the Quick Actions are all about, speeding up boring tasks. In the case of CityMapper (iTunes) it's giving you two Quick Actions from the home screen: Get Me Home and Get Me Somewhere. Perfect.

I Movie and Other Apps

Most of Apple's apps get 3D Touch support and vary from Quick Actions to Peek and Pop. 3D Touch in iMovie (iTunes) lets you start a new film from the home screen via a Quick Action.
